OF THE WORKING GROUP ON MEDIA AND INFORMATION
AT THE CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEE
OF FINNO-UGRIC PEOPLES



Objective

The objective of the working group is to contribute to the formation of a unified information space of the Finno-Ugric peoples.

Functions

The functions of the working group are:

– providing the operative and unimpeded exchange of information between the Finno-Ugric peoples;

– providing the Finno-Ugric peoples with access to global information sources;

– presentation of information about the Finno-Ugric peoples to the world community;

– promotion of the joint use of information resources;

– preparation of proposals for the Consultative Committee in the sphere of media and information and assistance in putting the corresponding resolutions of the Consultative Committee into practice.

Structure

Every interested person or legal entity having specific proposals or projects that are in accordance with the objectives of the working group may participate in its activities.

The Co-ordinators of the Working Group on Media and Information are:

– Natalia Sokratovna Ruzanova, Director of RCI (Regional Centre of Informatization), Vice-Rector on Informatization, Petrozavodsk State University, Member of Co-ordinating Council on computerization of the Republic of Karelia;

– Aleksander Ivanovich Kirjanen, Vice-Chairman of Inter-Regional Union of Ingrian Finns Inkerin Liitto, Editor of Inkerin Uutiset, Assistant Professor, St. Petersburg University;

– Yevgeny Nikolayevich Rozhkin, Deputy Minister of National Affairs of the Komi Republic;

– Gabriella Benkσ, Hungarian Organisation of the World Congress of Finno-Ugric Peoples, Hungarian TV;

– Andres Heinapuu, Manager, Information Centre of Finno-Ugric Peoples (SURI) at the Fenno-Ugria Foundation;

– Piret Suurvδli, Estonian TV;

– Vasily Yanalov, Deputy Minister of Cultural and National Affairs of Mari El;

– Hannu Oittinen, Taifuuni Publishers (Finland),

– Valentina Khozumova, editor of the Mansi newspaper Luimaa Seripos,

– Yevgeny Chetvergov, editor of the newspaper Erzyan Mastor.

The Co-ordinators are appointed and substituted by the Secretariat of the Consultative Committee on the grounds of the relevant applications.
 
 

Responsibilities of the Co-ordinators

– Collecting information in their respective regions or specified spheres and presenting the information to the Co-ordination Centre;

– dissemination of information in their respective regions or specified spheres;

– drafting the projects and contributing to their fulfilment;

– carrying out the agreements of the Working Group.
 
 

Co-ordination Centre of the Working group on Media and Information

– The Co-ordination Centre may be a legal person.

– The Fenno-Ugria Foundation, represented by the Information Centre of the Finno-Ugric Peoples (under the named Foundation), shall act as the Co-ordination Centre.

Responsibilities

– Control over the collecting and storing of information on projects, data banks, mass media and sources of funding, as well as providing the access to this information;

– convocation of the Working Group when necessary.

Maintenance

– From the specially assigned resources of the Consultative Committee;

– from additional resources obtained for specific projects.
